Shift Pattern: 24/7 Shift Rotation (4 days on / 4 days off)
Shift Hours: Day shifts (07:0019:00) | Night shifts (19:0007:00)
Package: £41,600 + Paid Certifications, 25 Days Holiday & Double overtime
We are seeking a Network Engineer to join our 24/7 Technology Operations Command Centre. This is a hands-on, shift-based role operating in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment. You will be responsible for the monitoring, diagnosis, and resolution of network incidents across a diverse, mission-critical customer estate.
Based onsite within our brand-new facility, you will play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of complex network and systems environments, working closely with internal engineering teams and third-party suppliers and be:
Proactive Monitoring: Monitor network performance, capacity, and availability using enterprise tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Juniper MIST).
Incident Management: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve network faults across LAN, WAN, SDWAN, and telecoms services while minimizing service impact.
Lifecycle Tracking: Log, manage, and progress incidents and service requests through their full lifecycle, maintaining accurate updates and detailed documentation.
SLA Adherence: Work within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure timely resolution and high first-time fix rates.
Maintenance & Health Checks: Perform routine network health checks and preventative maintenance activities, deploying patches, firmware updates, and minor configuration changes as required.
Documentation: Produce clear incident reports, detailed shift handovers, and technical documentation.
Escalation: Escalate complex or unresolved issues to senior engineers or external vendors where appropriate.
Stakeholder Communication: Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, remaining calm under pressure.
Required Experience
Professional Experience: 1+ years of experience working as a Network Engineer, IT Engineer or similar within an enterprise or service provider environment.
Troubleshooting: Practical experience in troubleshooting across core routing and switching technologies.
Core Networking: Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, LAN/WAN, VLANs, and routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF).
Technical Environment
Multi-Vendor Support: Experience supporting multi-vendor environments (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, AWS).
Tooling: Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, and ticketing systems (e.g., SolarWinds, ServiceNow, BMC Remedy).
Qualifications & Security
Certifications: CCNA or equivalent networking certification is desirable (CCNP or JNCIA is highly advantageous).
Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).
