Lead Electronics Design Engineer – Power Electronics


An innovative and rapidly expanding engineering firm is seeking a Lead Electronics Design Engineer to drive the development of next-generation motor drive and charging systems. This is a key leadership position where you'll oversee electronic hardware design from concept to production, supporting cutting-edge solutions for electrified powertrains and energy systems.


Key Responsibilities as the Lead Electronics Design Engineer:

  • Lead the electronics design and development of motor drive and charging systems, ensuring performance, cost, manufacturability, and compliance.
  • Oversee PCB layout and design, optimised for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), thermal performance, and relevant safety standards.
  • Ensure electronic solutions align with design specifications and customer requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership on electronics-heavy projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams including software, firmware, procurement, and project management.
  • Plan workloads, manage daily task execution, and oversee delivery schedules.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop engineers and technicians within the electronics team.
  • Support supply chain decisions with technical insights.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and project delivery processes.


Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Electronics or a related field.
  • Strong background in Power Electronics design, with a deep understanding of design for manufacture (DfM) and production in high-volume, harsh environments.
  • Proven experience in leading technical teams in fast-paced, growing organisations.
  • Skilled in strategic planning, risk management, and engineering project delivery.
  • Hands-on experience in the design of motor control systems and electrical packaging.
  • Proficient in circuit modelling and simulation tools.
  • Multidisciplinary knowledge across electronics, PCB layout, mechanical interfaces, and embedded software.
  • Solid understanding of compliance, safety legislation, and industry standards.
  • Strong documentation skills—able to write detailed specifications, protocols, and test reports.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and thrive in a dynamic R&D environment.
