Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Define and own the end-to-end system architecture for Digital Cockpit features
including infotainment head units, digital clusters, HUDs, connectivity modules, and
backend interfaces.
Translate vehicle-level customer, UX, legal, and brand requirements into a coherent
system architecture and technical strategy.
Author and maintain architectural views, system decomposition, and interface
definitions (logical, functional, and physical).
Own and govern Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and API contracts between
hardware, software, middleware, HMI, and cloud services.
Lead architectural trade-off studies across performance, latency, boot-time,
cybersecurity, functional safety, and cost.
Steer integration of third-party platforms and SDKs including navigation engines, voice
assistants, media/streaming services, and smartphone projection solutions.
Provide architectural leadership during supplier selection, RFQs, design reviews, and
technical sign-off with Tier-1 suppliers.
Ensure architectural compliance with ISO 26262 (Functional Safety), ISO 21434
(Cybersecurity), SOTIF, and Software Update Management (SUMS) requirements.
Guide system validation strategy, including architectural input to DVPs, test
environments, and vehicle-level verification.
Act as the primary escalation point for complex, cross-domain technical issues
impacting cockpit performance or delivery.
Mentor senior and mid-level system engineers, promoting best practices in systems
thinking and architectural discipline.
Support long-term technical roadmap definition, enabling reuse and platform
consistency across vehicle programmes.
Technical Competencies
Digital Cockpit architectures: infotainment, instrument cluster, HUD, HMI controllers
Automotive networks: CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, SOME/IP
Embedded and distributed systems architecture
Middleware and OS concepts (QNX, Android Automotive, Linux)
Diagnostics and OTA: UDS, DoIP, OBD, software update strategies
Third-party ecosystem integration (navigation, voice, media, smartphone projection)
Cybersecurity concepts: secure boot, secure communication, threat analysis
Functional safety and system safety architecture
Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), SysML, architectural modelling
Requirements and lifecycle management using tools such as JAMA, DOORS and JIRA
Leadership & Collaboration
The role requires strong technical leadership and the ability to influence across multiple
disciplines including UX/UI, embedded software, hardware engineering, validation,
functional safety, cybersecurity, and programme management. The System Architect is
expected to communicate complex architectural decisions clearly to both technical and non-
technical stakeholders, including senior management and external partners.

• Significant experience as a system or solution architect within digital cockpit or
infotainment domains
• Proven OEM or Tier‑1 experience delivering production cockpit systems
• Demonstrated ownership of architecture across multiple vehicle programmes
