Job Description

About Metabolic

Metabolic is a pioneering healthcare clinic based in Knightsbridge, London, delivering comprehensive, technology-enabled, and patient-centric care for individuals with diabetes, obesity, cardiometabolic conditions and other metabolic disorders. We are redefining chronic disease management through an integrated care model, continuous monitoring technologies, and a multidisciplinary team approach that places the patient at the centre of every clinical decision.

Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified and experienced GMC-registered Radiologist to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the diagnostic pathway of our patients, performing and interpreting imaging studies that support the diagnosis and management of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, endocrine disorders, obesity-related complications and associated metabolic conditions. The post-holder will work collaboratively across our integrated care model and contribute to the continued development of imaging services at Metabolic.

Key Responsibilities

1. Image Interpretation

  • Perform, interpret, and analyze a comprehensive range of medical imaging modalities—including DEXA, X-rays, CT, MRI, and ultrasound—with a specific focus on metabolic and cardiovascular care.
  • Deliver precise, timely, and clinically relevant diagnostic reports to referring clinicians, strictly adhering to Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) standards.
  • Synthesize imaging findings with clinical histories, laboratory data, and parallel investigations to facilitate holistic patient assessments.
  • Execute image-guided procedures safely and effectively, aligned with established scope of practice.

2. Patient Care

  • Consult with patients to explain diagnostic findings and answer questions regarding imaging procedures, ensuring informed consent is obtained in line with GMC guidance.
  • Ensure patient comfort, dignity, privacy and safety throughout all imaging procedures.
  • Follow up with patients as clinically appropriate and communicate sensitively, particularly where findings are significant or unexpected.

3. Collaboration and Consultation

  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals — including endocrinologists, cardiologists, bariatric physicians, surgeons, GPs and allied health practitioners — to deliver coordinated, comprehensive care.
  • Participate actively in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings to discuss complex cases and contribute to shared management plans.
  • Liaise with external referrers, tertiary centres and NHS partners as required.

4. Quality, Safety and Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintain the highest standards of diagnostic quality and clinical governance.
  • Ensure compliance with the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017 (IR(ME)R) and the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17), including duties as a Practitioner and/or Operator as appropriate.
  • Comply with all Care Quality Commission (CQC) Fundamental Standards and contribute to evidence for inspections and internal audits.
  • Adhere to information governance obligations under the UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and Caldicott principles.
  • Understand, follow and actively support all clinic infection prevention and control programmes.
  • Participate in clinical audit, peer review (e.g. RCR Radiology Events and Learning Meetings) and discrepancy meetings.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in radiology and implement evidence-based best practice.

5. Professional and Administrative Duties

  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and complete patient records.
  • Participate in continuous professional development (CPD) in line with RCR requirements and engage fully with annual appraisal and GMC revalidation.
  • Maintain appropriate professional indemnity / medical malpractice cover at all times.
  • Complete all mandatory training, including (but not limited to) Basic Life Support, fire safety, manual handling, equality and diversity, information governance and infection prevention and control.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of departmental policies, standard operating procedures and service improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Primary medical qualification (MBBS, MBChB or equivalent) recognised by the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise and entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Clinical Radiology (via CCT, CESR or recognised equivalent).
  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) or recognised equivalent.
  • Active membership of, and CPD compliance with, the Royal College of Radiologists.
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom.
  • Satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-CCT (or equivalent) experience preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience in musculoskeletal, abdominal and cardiovascular imaging is desirable; experience in metabolic imaging modalities (e.g. DEXA, CT calcium scoring, hepatic MRI/MR elastography) is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with PACS / RIS systems and digital radiology workflows.
  • Strong diagnostic and analytical skills with meticulous attention to clinical detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken) to the standard required by the GMC.
Personal Attributes
  • Patient-centred approach with a commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality care.
  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to a multidisciplinary, integrated model of care.
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for innovation in chronic disease management and digital health.
  • Reliability, professionalism and sound clinical judgement.
What We Offer
  • The opportunity to work in a cutting-edge, patient-first integrated care model in the heart of Knightsbridge.
  • A supportive, collegiate and innovative clinical environment.
  • Continuous learning and career development in chronic disease management and digital health.
  • A competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Remuneration: Competitive salary
  • Annual Leave: 25 days annual leave
  • Development: Support for specialist training and professional development in metabolic medicine.
  • Bonus: Performance-related bonus scheme, reviewed annually, based on the achievement of agreed operational, governance, and service development objectives.
