Head of AI
Manchester (Hybrid – 2 days per week in office)
£110,000 - £130,000 per annum
The Opportunity
We’re hiring a Head of AI to lead the development of a scalable, production-grade AI capability within a growing B2B SaaS business.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role where you will define and build the AI platform that underpins both product innovation and engineering delivery. AI is central to the company’s strategy this role ensures it is delivered as a robust, governed, and scalable capability rather than isolated features.
The Role
Reporting into senior Product & Engineering leadership, you will:
- Own the AI platform – architecture, pipelines, deployment, and monitoring
- Drive applied AI across products (LLMs, NLP, conversational intelligence)
- Embed AI into engineering workflows (automation, testing, AI-assisted development)
- Establish governance frameworks – evaluation, explainability, and compliance
- Lead and develop a team of 2 Data Engineers and 1 Data Scientist, with scope to grow the function
- Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and leadership on AI strategy
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Experience building or leading AI/ML platforms in SaaS or data-driven environments
- Strong understanding of the full ML lifecycle (training, deployment, monitoring)
- Hands-on experience with cloud AI tools (ideally AWS e.g. Bedrock, SageMaker)
- Track record of delivering applied AI solutions (LLMs, NLP, or similar)
- Ability to lead teams while remaining technically credible
Desirable:
- Experience with AI governance, evaluation, and compliance frameworks
- Familiarity with agentic AI or multi-agent systems
- Background in voice, speech, or conversational AI
